Intervener, Beyond Borders, pleased with decision on Internet luring case

The Supreme Court of Canada today, dismissed the appeal of Craig Bartholomew Legare, who had been charged with the Internet luring of a 12-year-old girl. Beyond Borders, which had intervener status in this case, hails the decision as positive for the nation’s children. Media Release

Winnipeg –Beyond Borders, Canada’s global voice against child sexual exploitation, announced the winners of its 7th annual media awards today. The winners will receive their awards on November 20 (Universal Children’s Day) in a ceremony in Winnipeg. More

Winnipeg - Little Mosque on the Prairie actor, Manoj Sood, will help Beyond Borders launch a new Web-based public awareness campaign at 11-400 St. Mary Avenue at Noon on October 20. Sood is one of six high profile Canadian men delivering the message to other men that the sexual exploitation of children must stop now.  More

Beyond Borders Intervenes at the Supreme Court in Internet Luring Case. Media Release

Ottawa – On Thursday, October 15, Beyond Borders will appear before the Supreme Court of Canada in R v Legare, a case involving the Internet. Building on its track record of involvement in many high profile child protection cases, Beyond Borders filed a motion, and was granted leave by the Supreme Court of Canada, to intervene in this case.  More

Beyond Borders Media Awards announces 2009 nominees. Media Release

Global Progress Cards towards protecting children and youth from sex trafficking have been released.

  • Only 10% of countries reviewed have special police units established across the country to investigate child trafficking cases with appropriate specialised training.
  • 60% of the assistance and care services offered to children in countries reviewed are not comprehensive or specialised for child victims of trafficking. Full Report
